From toddlers to preschoolers, our programs are grounded in curiosity, nature exploration, and social-emotional learning both indoor and outdoors. We are advocates of the Waldorf Education Method of early child development. The Waldorf approach is based on the philosophy that each child is a threefold being (spirit, soul and body) and that unfolds in stages. Our goal is to offer an education that aims to develop the whole child, not just cognitive abilities. This includes fostering social skills, emotional intelligence and creativity through various activities. Read more about the Waldorf method below:
Holistic Development:
Waldorf education aims to develop the whole child, not just their cognitive abilities. This includes fostering social skills, emotional intelligence, and creativity through various activities.
Imaginative Play:
Play is considered crucial for learning and development. Waldorf early childhood programs provide ample opportunities for free play, encouraging children to explore, experiment, and develop their imagination.
Hands-on Activities:
Learning is often experiential, with children engaging in activities like painting, drawing, sculpting, baking, and gardening.
Low-Tech Approach:
Waldorf education generally minimizes the use of technology in the early years, believing that it can hinder the development of imagination and other crucial skills.
Daily Rhythm:
Waldorf programs follow a predictable daily rhythm, with a balance of guided group activities and free play, along with designated times for rest and nourishment.
Focus on Imagination and Creativity:
Waldorf education emphasizes nurturing imagination and creativity through storytelling, puppetry, and artistic activities.
Threefold Being:
The Waldorf approach is based on the philosophy that each child is a threefold being (spirit, soul, and body) that unfolds in stages. The Waldorf method recognized the "body" for the importance of physical activity, movement and practical skills, recognizes the "soul" for aspects that focus on the child's emotional development (including cultivating empathy, creativity and imagination), and recognizes the "spiritual" nature of the child by fostering a sense of wonder, reverence and connection to the world.
Teacher's Role:
Teachers in Waldorf education are seen as guides who create a nurturing and stimulating environment for children to learn and grow, according to Waldorf School of Cape Cod.
While our license extends from 6weeks-12years, our daycare program primarily focuses on children toddler (1 - 3 years) through Preschool (3 - 5years). *Possible exceptions may be made for siblings.
We offer a mix of Choice Play, Small Group Lessons, Outside Discovery Time, Station Play, Story time and Dramatic Play to give your little ones a well rounded day of learning through play. As our primary age group is learning to potty train, so we also spend a lot of time practicing listening to our bodies by pausing to take a bathroom break. See our sample schedules during your tour. Please note, these schedules are subject to change.
We understand that children benefit from a routine which we very much intend to keep, however, we also relish the chance to provide your children with enrichment opportunities off campus when possible. Parents/Guardians will be notified of all field trips and outings in advance. We take every possible precaution when leaving campus with your precious cargo including wearing matching shirts, contact bracelets, bringing additional vetted volunteers for an extra set of eyes and hands. Here are a few locations we may enjoy taking field trips to throughout the year: Lincoln City Libraries, Lincoln Children's Zoo, Moral Hall, City Parks, Pumpkin Patches.
